Three hundred and eleven

Last chance to suggest my last month.  I’m putting up the top five ideas tomorrow for voting.

Good deed leftovers…

I saved three babies’ lives yesterday – I gave blood!  A good deed postponed from last month because of the damn cold I had, I finally had the opportunity to become a first time blood donor (I’m embarrassed that it was my first time, but it’s never too late to start).  It’s not nearly as scary as I worried it would be and the staff were absolutely lovely.  They are in need of blood, so if you haven’t donated recently or never have, think about doing it.  You could save lives too!  For a little discomfort it is so worth it.

I also gave one of my twenty-one dollars I have a day to a very nice homeless man yesterday without even thinking about it.  He needs it more than me.  I guess this good deed thing stuck with me!

More spending

Man, it’s hard not to spend money.  Not that I spend that much money every day, but when you can’t spend it, it makes it that much harder not to want to.  I guess it’s the human condition to always want what you don’t have.

Yesterday I spent $5 on transit to and from giving blood (transit to and from anywhere is a quarter of my daily spending allowance – I’m glad I live close enough to walk to work) and then an unexpected expense came up.  My domain name for my blog (the website name) was up for renewal.  The $25 to renew it would normally have not even phased me at all, but now this seems like such a lot of money!  Luckily I had leftover savings from the first couple days of the month when I didn’t spend anything, so I could pay for it.  If I hadn’t paid it, I would lose my blog name.  There’s always something coming up that needs money.  Today the gas to visit my parents cost me my full day’s allowance.  Luckily they feed me while I’m here and send me home with leftovers!
